Emma-Lisa Roux discovered the Renaissance lute at the age of six with her first teacher Claire Antonini, who also introduced her to singing. Her growing passion for Renaissance music led her to study the lute in the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where she completed her Bachelor's degree with Hopkinson Smith in 2018, her Master's degree with Peter Croton in early 2021, and her Master in Pedagogy in June 2022.
She has been singing and accompanying herself since she was a child and has developed this practice over the years, specializing in repertoires from the late 15th century to the first half of the 17th century, combining her voice with the lute, theorbo, or Renaissance guitar.
Emma-Lisa sings and plays regularly with early music ensembles such as Ensemble Phoenix Munich, Phaedrus, La Compagnie Sensible, and Concerto di Margherita, and more occasionally with various ensembles such as Blue Heron and Les Délices.
Emma-Lisa also performs solo, traveling throughout Europe and participating in festivals such as Oude Muziek in Utrecht, MA Festival in Bruges, Equivoci Musicali in Milan, and the Dinard International Music Festival.
Stepping outside of the Early Music world, Emma-Lisa recently participated in the recording of the CD "A Day with Suzanne, a Tribute to Leonard Cohen" with Joel Frederiksen, Hille Perl and Domen Marinčič which came out in January 2023 and took part in a theater production entitled "Der Phönix aus der Währung" as a theorbo player and singer in Theater Basel (in Basel, Switzerland) in 2022.
Emma-Lisa Roux a découvert le luth renaissance à l'âge de six ans avec Claire Antonini, qui l'a également initiée au chant. Sa passion grandissante pour la musique de la Renaissance l'amène à étudier le luth à la Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, où elle obtient son Bachelor avec Hopkinson Smith en 2018, son Master en performance avec Peter Croton début 2021, et son Master de pédagogie en juin 2022.
Elle chante en s'accompagnant depuis toute petite et développe cette pratique au fil des années, se spécialisant dans les répertoires de la fin du 15ème siècle jusqu'à la première moitié du 17ème, alliant la voix au luth, au théorbe ou à la guitare renaissance.
Aujourd'hui, Emma-Lisa chante et joue régulièrement avec des ensembles de musique ancienne tels qu'Ensemble Phoenix Munich, Phaedrus, La Compagnie Sensible, ou Concerto di Margherita, et plus ponctuellement pour différents ensembles tels que Blue Heron ou Les Délices.
Emma-Lisa se produit également seule sur scène, voyageant à travers l'Europe et participant à des festivals tels que Oude Muziek à Utrecht, MA Festival à Bruges, Equivoci Musicali à Milan, ou le Festival International de Musique de Dinard.
Sortant du monde de la musique ancienne, Emma-Lisa a participé à l'enregistrement du CD "A Day with Suzanne, a Tribute to Leonard Cohen" avec Joel Frederiksen, Hille Perl et Domen Marinčič, sorti en janvier 2023, ainsi qu’à la pièce de théâtre musicale "Der Phönix aus der Währung" au Theater Basel, en Suisse en 2022, en tant que théorbiste et chanteuse.
